The Coffeehouse and Trivia night are events designed for and run by UQ medical students for the
wider cohort, with the aim of expanding the style of events run by the UQMS, improving the relationships within the cohort and fostering creative pursuits. They also act as fundraising events for the Ashintosh Foundation.
The Ashintosh Foundation Coffeehouses are a series of acoustic music evenings that involve medical student musicians performing live for their peers in a relaxed, informal setting. The event is based on a Canadian university social event in which acoustic musicians gather in campus coffeeshops with their friends to listen to each other play music. The most recent Coffeehouses have also included photography and illustration competitions, furthering the aim of this event to give medical students the opportunity to share in the musical and artistic talents of their colleagues.
Hot beverages are served by baristas within the medical school cohort at no cost, making Coffeehouse a unique and extremely popular event on the UQMS social calendar. Entry is by donation at the door, with Coffeehouse now serving as a premier fundraiser for the Ashintosh Foundation.

A very different style to many of the other events run throughout the year, the Ashintosh Trivia night is another major feature on the social calendar and one of our rising stars, regularly selling out venues with fantastic reviews. There have even been expressions of interest for holding multiple events in 2017. Look out for our next Trivial Night event by visiting our Ashintosh News page.
Students get together in small groups to battle out who has the best general knowledge and to raise funds for charity.
